Cellulite is a pathology that affects the cellular tissue that is underneath the skin, including adipocytes and arterial, venous and lymphatic microcirculation. Circulatory disturbances occur at the beginning, which then cause changes in the structure of the skin.
Who are most affected?
Almost exclusively affects women and usually begins at puberty. About 90% of the female population suffers from some degree of cellulite and inheritance has a great influence.
The factors that cause it are many, are genetic, constitutional or racial, among others.
What is the difference between cellulite and obesity?
While it is common to be confused, are two different disorders. Cellulite is not a form of obesity.
Although the affected tissue (fat) is the same in both processes, obesity simply increasing the number or size of fat cells occurs in cellulite while a number of structural changes (lipodystrophy) occurs.
Why cellulite appears?
To better understand the complex mechanism of the formation of cellulite, you need to remember some structural peculiarities of the affected land.
In some regions like pelvis, thighs and buttocks, she has five (5) times more fat cells and larger than in other regions of the body. While these conditions exist in girls from birth, puberty is due to hormonal stimulation, when producing the increased fat storage and retention.
Clearly there is an intimate relationship between circulatory disorders and cellulitis. The first change that causes this disease is the obstruction of lymphatic drainage, circulation manager of body fluid.
These complications are compounded by eating disorders, substance consumption, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, sedentary lifestyle and pregnancy.

Cellulite Treatment
In the treatment we perform at the German Hospital we consider the pathophysiology of cellulite. Consider it as a systemic illness and not as a purely local disorder, so the approach is multidisciplinary.
The first objective is to help the venous and lymphatic systems to fulfill their function return: remove the interstitial fluid and drain the toxins that are in it. This is complemented by the prevention and correction of the factors that triggered or worsened the situation.
General measures
The food is central because the patient must create a good eating habit, which will vary depending on your weight. Needless to say, is not simply to lose weight, since the presence or absence of excess fat have no implication on cellulite.
We recommend:
- Drink 1-2 liters of water per day
Restricting salt
Eliminate toxins such as alcohol and cigarette
Avoid cold cuts, sausages and soft drinks.
It is also important not to trigger or aggravate existing circulatory disorders (varicose veins, telangiectasia, etc.). To do this it is advisable:
- Avoid using very tight to the body garments.
Improve posture
Adopt a style less sedentary and more active life, for example, exercise regularly.
Enough sleep for a rest.
Pressure therapy and lymphatic drainage
These techniques are used to enhance venous return from the feet to the legs.
Mesotherapy
Local mesotherapy is a medical procedure that involves the infiltration of small amounts of drug to the dermis, thus achieving the injected drugs act on as many cells as possible.
Radiofrequency
Accent treatment involves the application of radio frequency energy (RF) for non-invasive application aesthetics.
RF produces the gradual heating of the skin and strengthens the collagen fibers. It also produces new collagen, which causes the skin to contract and reduce sagging.
